My wife and I went to see some Indian mounds here in Madison yesterday. I'd read about mounds before moving here, and I guess I expected something taller than the ankle high, unmowed shapes we saw. I guess I wouldn't be much taller if I was 1000 years old, lol.
Anyway, the first two we saw are a bear and what is supposedly a lynx, but I think it is a snake. The lynx's front paw and head seem to me to be a snake's open jaw, ready to swallow an egg...perhaps one of the boulders we saw nearby, or maybe smaller mound that eroded away long ago. Anyway, it seemed to me to have snake energy, and the bear mound definitely had bear energy.
Next, we went to one that is supposedly "a waterspirit, a lizard or turtle overlooking the lake". Well, I think its a salamander (since there are salamanders native here, but not lizards)...and it looks over the lake, right to a place on the far side with some noticeable spiritual energy. I plan to look for that place next spring and try to identify it.
Anyway....there are more mounds and artesian wells around here, and I'm going to visit them all.
